When you are ill, overweight and lethargic it is time to consider a detox, cleansing program.
The concept of fasting is not a new one; however, it has been ignored in our society for quite some time. Hippocrates, our first doctor, recommended fasting to recover from sickness. “Everyone has a doctor in him.” Said Hippocrates, who lived four hundred years before Christ. He, as well as Galen and all the other physicians of ancient times, advocated fasting. Others such as Plato and Socrates felt they always obtained mental efficiency through fasting. Fasting has been man’s oldest and best method of improving health for thousands of years. In ancient times, fasting was administered when one became ill. When I traveled in Greece, we visited ancient fasting communities where those that were ill stayed and only drank water until they recuperated and felt wonderful and full of energy. Isn’t it amazing that when one fasts, the body immediately starts to heal? I have seen this numerous times in cases of cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure, obesity/weight loss; the list is endless.
What is a fast? I looked up the word “fast” in Webster’s dictionary, and it read, “To abstain from all foods”. Please know that fasting is not starvation, On my fasting program, you will not starve to death. A very important aspect of fasting is the amount of water you drink.
Fasting is the quickest way to regain optimum health. Fasting impressively raises the white blood cell count, which stimulates stem-cell-based regeneration in renewal of immune system cells. In a preliminary study, it was discovered that cancer patients who fasted for seventy-two hours before chemotherapy were protected from the toxic results of the treatment.
Fasting is not a diet, and fasting is not a fad. Fasting is only one component to the whole program of a healthy lifestyle; however, it is a very important one. Fasting gives control over the flesh and clears the mind. Now, my brain tells my body what to do. In other words, I have control. That’s what fasting does. It gives you control, ultimately leading to how you look and how you feel. It establishes a feeling of well being.
Fasting gives one the ability to cleanse the palate, change your eating patterns, victory over food, drug and other detrimental addictions. You will detox the body, promote self healing and remove excess weight loss. Fasting is one of the most effective natural methods of rebuilding the body’s own dynamic healing powers and overcoming many major ailments.
